10 Most Historic Moments of 2011


For every generation, there are some events that defines or shape that very period of time. Whether it is some assassination or some new technology or a new discovery, these moments or events are remembered for the rest of our lives and a normal person would want to gain knowledge about it.
For this reason, we have compiled a list of 10 Historic Moments of 2011. The year is about to end so why not end it with studying about it.
Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
On March 11th, a magnitude of 9.1 earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the east of Japan. The casualties recorded were 15, 822 and 3,926 people were missing. Tsunami warnings were given to 50 more countries and territories. Emergencies were declared at 4 nuclear plants due to the tsunami.
First Artificial Organ Transplant Achieved
On July 7th, the world’s first ever artificial organ windpipe was achieved, with the help of an artificial windpipe coated with stem cells.
Osama Bin Laden Death
On may 1st  U.S president Barak Obama announces that Osama Bin Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda has been killed during and American military operation in Pakistan. Osama was hiding from America since the 9/11 attacks.
Sindh Floods in Pakistan
On September 19th, Sindh floods in Pakistan killed 434 people with many injured and homeless. United Nation launched $357 million appeal for the victims of 2011 Sindh floods in Pakistan
Amy winehouse Death
On July 23rd, and English singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home. A coroner ruled that the cause of her death was alcohol poisoning. She was very famous for her vocals and her electric mix of musical genres including R&B, soul and Jazz.
Space Shuttle Atlantis
On July 21st, space shuttle Atlantis lands at Kennedy Space Center after finishing STS-135 which was the final mission of American space shuttle program.
Muammar Gaddafi Killed
On October 20th, Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed in Sirte. After that, National Transitional Council Forces took over the whole city and ended the war.
Liquid Water Evidence on Mars
On August 5th, NASA announces that its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which is a spacecraft designed to explore Mars from orbit, captured photographic evidence of probable liquid water on Mars in warm seasons.
Wedding of Prince William
On April 29th, almost 2 billion people watched the wedding ceremony of Prince William and Catherine Middleton  at Westminster Abbey in London. There were also rumors that Prince decided to leave Catherine after a month or two after the wedding but they were fake.
Kim Kardashian 72 Days Wedding
Yes, She made it to this list.  Kim Kardashian married an NBA player Kris Humphries. Unfortunately she grew tired of it in only 72 days. I mean, was she trying to make some world record of shortest marriages ? well grow up baby, this wasn’t enough.
